Rabbi Benjamin Segal
Conservative Rabbi, born in the US and made aliyah in 1973. Married and father of five, grandfather of twelve. Former President of the Schechter Institute for Jewish studies and the Melitz: The Institutes for Jewish Zionist Education. Rabbi Segal has published several books and articles about education, bible and Zionism.
Ms. Nurit Herman
holds a Masters degree in Jewish thought. Director of Education at the Van Leer Instituite and graduate of the Mandel School of Educational Leadership, Mrs. Herman has mentored Memizrach Shemesh from its’ inception.
Professor Zvi Zohar
teaches in the Law Faculty and the Jewish Studies Faculty at Bar Ilan University. Additionally he is a senior research fellow at the Institute for Advanced Studies at the Shalom Hartman Institute in Jerusalem, where he heads the Center for Jewish Law.
Ms Ronit Ra’anan
is the Executive Director of Kol Yisrael Haverim. She holds a Masters degree in Biology and is an educator, former teacher and school principal. Ms Ra’anan was also responsible for all the Pre-University Predatory Programs in Israel. She is married to Avner and mother to Noa, Yiftach and Hagar.
Ms. Amira Perlov
is an educator and school principal of the Secular-Religious High School in Kfar Adumim. She managed the Center for Education and Tolerance at the Van Leer Institute in Jerusalem and has worked as a mentor to teachers and educators. Ms. Perlov holds a Master’s degree in Modern Jewish Studies from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and is a graduate of the Mandel Institute for Educational Leadership. .
Professor Moshe Bar Asher
is the Professor Emeritus in the Hebrew Language Department at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. He is the recipient of the Israel Prize (1993) for his research of the Hebrew Language and other Jewish languages. He is also the recipient of the Rothschild Prize (2008). Professor Bar Asher has written 14 books, edited 60 books and written 270 articles on the subject of Jewish Languages throughout the ages, specifically Aramaic and Jewish Arabic.
Professor Yaakov Kop
is an Economics and Society expert. He is the founding director of the Taub Center for Social Policy Studies in Israel. He is Professor Emeritus in Public policy at Ben Gurion University and the Deputy Director at The Falk Institute for Economic Research at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Professor Kop is a senior researcher at the Brookings Institution in Washington DC and serves as a consultant for the World Bank. Prof. Kop is on the European management staff of the International Council for Social Welfare and has published more than 20 books. Among his writings is: Sticking Together-Israel’s Experiment with Pluralism (with Robert Litan) Brookings Institution, Washington DC 2002.

Mr. Yehuda Meimran
Executive Director (on sabbatical) of Morasha the Network of Schools for Jewish Heritage and Community Involvement is the Founding Director of Memizrach Shemesh and one of the founders of The Maayanot Institute. Mr. Meimran served as a School Principal for three years and directed ISEF, the International Foundation for Education at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. He also served as deputy director of the Department of Social Involvement at the University and held several other social and educational positions. Mr. Meimran is a graduate of the Mandel Institute for Educational Leadership and holds a Masters degree in Psychology and is currently studying towards a doctorate in Education.
Alan Hoffman
has held the position of Executive Director of the Education Department at the Jewish Agency since January 2000. In 1980 Mr. Hoffman joined the Melton Center for Jewish Education at the School of Education, Hebrew University and later served as its’ director. Mr. Hoffman was the Executive Director of the Council for Initiatives in Jewish Education in New York between 1994 and 1996. In 1997 he was appointed the Director of the Mandel Center for Jewish continuity at Hebrew University. He holds a Masters and a Doctoral degree in Education Policy from the School of Education at Harvard University.
Rabbi and Dr. Moshe Amar
was born in Morocco and made Aliyah in 1963. He is married and the father of seven, a graduate of many Yeshivot in Israel and abroad. Rabbi Amar has extensive Jewish and academic knowledge, holds a city Rabbi certificate through the Rabbinate of Israel and a doctoral degree from Bar Ilan University. He held senior teaching and research positions at Bar Ilan University between the years of 1975-2007. He currently teaches at the Ashkelon Academic College and in Memizrach Shemesh’s Rabbinic Leadership Program.
